ASIC released the third Australian Financial Attitudes and Behaviour Tracker. The research was conducted by EY Sweeney on behalf of ASIC. It explores some key financial attitudes and behaviours of Australian consumers and investors over the six month period from March to August 2015.

ASIC released the National Financial Literacy Strategy Annual Highlights Report 2014-15. The report is a collective account of financial literacy activity by ASIC and a range of organisations across the government, business, community and education sectors.

The OECD released the OECD/INFE Policy Handbook on National Strategies for Financial Education. The handbook describes the experiences of the 59 economies worldwide that are implementing national strategies using guidance from OECD/INFE financial education principles.

IOSCO released its report Sound Practices for Investment Risk Education. The report identifies sound practices for investment risk education initiatives, based on analysis of approaches and practices adopted by members of the IOSCO Committee 8 on Retail Investors in designing and delivering their investment risk initiatives, and a literature review.

Entries for the 2015 Financial Literacy Australia Awards program opened on 19 May and closed on 9 August. These awards celebrate the achievements of organisations and individuals working to improve Australians' financial literacy.

ANZ released the findings of the fifth Survey of Adult Financial Literacy in Australia. In this comprehensive survey of 3,400 Australian adults, the longest-running and most often-repeated of its kind, ANZ asks people about their financial attitudes, knowledge and behaviours to find out how these have changed over time.

ASIC released a new online training resource, Be MoneySmart, launched on 31 March by the Federal Minister for Small Business, the Hon Bruce Billson MP. The resource aims to help students in vocational education and training to improve their financial literacy by better understanding personal taxation, superannuation, insurance, debt management and budgeting.

The 2015 round of the Financial Literacy Australia (FLA) grants program opened on 31 March, and expressions of interest closed on 29 May.

Up to $1.4 million in funding was made available for projects that advance financial literacy, with FLA's priorities for the 2015 grant round being:

  • investment and/or superannuation
  • practical money management skills
  • women
  • indigenous communities
  • independent evaluation
