Executive Director, Financial Counselling
Guthrie is the Executive Director of Financial Counselling
Australia, the peak body for financial counsellors in Australia.
Financial counsellors provide information, support and advocacy to
individuals and families experiencing financial difficulty, helping
them to deal with their immediate situation and minimise the risk
of future problems.
Fiona is a member of the Australian Competition and Consumer
Commission Consumer Consultative Committee; the Advisory Committee,
Electricity Project, Queensland Council of Social Service; and the
Queensland Consumers' Association.
Fiona's previous roles include Director, Financial Ombudsman
Service (2008-May 2009); Chair, Consumer Advisory Panel, Australian
Securities and Investments Commission (2004-2006); and Deputy
Chair, Consumers' Federation of Australia (1996-1999). Fiona was
also previously a member of the Commonwealth Consumer Affairs
Advisory Council (1997-2005); and Standards Australia, Standards
Development Board (2002-2006).
Fiona holds a B.A. (psychology) and an M.B.A. (finance).
